The well-known “Tap to Earn” game on Telegram, Hamster Kombat, announced on Wednesday via its official channel that it will launch its highly anticipated HMSTR token on The Open Network (TON) on September 26, and will also hold an airdrop for players on the same date.
The token was initially set to be released in July, but the launch was postponed because more extensive planning was needed for an event of this magnitude. In July, the team mentioned that since its launch this spring, Hamster Kombat has attracted over 300 million players, with Telegram’s data showing more than 80 million active players in the past month alone.
Hamster Kombat is a “Tap to Earn” game built around the basic screen-tapping experience, which gained popularity on Telegram earlier this year through Notcoin, a “mini-app” integrated within the messaging app. Notcoin set the standard, attracting 35 million players before launching what became the largest gaming token of the year.
However, the anonymous team behind Hamster Kombat, who developed a crypto exchange CEO simulation around the tapping mechanic, has seen a significant increase in audience and heightened hype surrounding their upcoming token launch, which will reward players.
